South Oldham Fire Auxiliary Announces South Oldham Fire Run
The South Oldham Fire Auxiliary will be hosting the Second Annual South Oldham Fire Run on May 28th, 2016 at 7:00 PM. The unique 5K Run/Walk and 5 mile Firefighter Challenge (a more challenging course, open to all), a family event, will feature a “dispatch start” with participants walking/running along a fire-lit path through Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. The 5K Run/Walk and 5 mile Firefighter Challenge will benefit the Matt Logsdon Cancer Battle, WHAS Crusade for Children and South Oldham Fire Auxiliary.
Registration ranges from $25 & $35 for early birds to $35 & $45 the day of the Run/Walk & 5 mile Firefighter Challenge. Registration is available at www.headfirstperformance.com. The Run/Walk will start at South Oldham Fire Department at 6310 Old LaGrange Road in Crestwood, KY.

Firefighter Matt Logsdon’s Cancer Battle – Matt is a 10 year veteran with Lexington Fire Department currently serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic/Rescue Tech on Engine 8. Previously, Matt worked at a nearby Jefferson County fire department. In February, Matt was diagnosed with stage four cancer affecting his lungs, liver, spine and skull. Matt, his wife Jessica, and his three children (ages 16, 10 and 8) are hopeful their journey with the Cancer Institute of America, located in Chicago, will provide great results. #teamlogsdon

About the South Oldham Fire Auxiliary
The mission of SOFA is to support the South Oldham Fire Department by providing volunteer support during times of emergency and official department functions, act as a support system that will benefit South Oldham Fire Department and their community, to participate in community service projects, to promote community support of the SOFD and its members, and to promote fellowship among the firefighters, their families, and auxiliary members.
