It’s that special day of Spring once again – the rare chance to shop locally for hard-to-find native and heirloom plants and rain barrels, talk to the gardening experts, and enjoy much more. The Jefferson County Master Gardener Association, Inc. (JCMGA) and the Louisville Nature Center are happy to present Gardenaganza on Sunday, April 26, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event will be held – rain or shine – at the Louisville Nature Center, 3745 Illinois Avenue, across from the Zoo. The giant plant sale will feature Margaret Shea’s Dropseed Nursery native plants, herbs from Thieneman’s, annuals from Wallitsch, plus perennials, shrubs, vegetables and more from the Jefferson County Master Gardeners. Visitors can even see some of the plants growing in the Center’s Sensory Garden. Cedar raised beds and rain barrels (great way to cut costs on water bills!) will also be available for purchase. The event also features a silent auction, door prize, raffle, Sweet ‘N’ Savory Food Truck, and music by Hominy and Grizz. This event is a major fundraiser for both of these 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. Louisville Nature Center, a hidden jewel right in the heart of the city, provides nature education and encourages stewardship in an urban forest. JCMGA is a volunteer organization affiliated with Jefferson County Extension Service.
